The Campus of Sainik Schools
The thirty-three Sainik Schools across the country are spread in each state of India. The schools are located in the following cities; Kalikiri, East Siang, Goalpara, Nalanda, Gopalganj, Ambikapur, Balachadi, Rewari, Bijapur, Nagrota, Kodagu, Rewa, Satara, Chandrapur, Imphal, Chhingchhip, Punglwa, Bhubaneshwar, Sambalpur, Jhunjhunu, Jhansi, Mainpuri, Amethi, Purulia, Kunjpura, Ghorakhal, Kapurthala, Tilaiya, Korukonda, Chittorgarh, Amaravaythinagar, Sujanpur Tira, and Kazhakootam. The campus of all these schools is well-equipped and provide the cadets with the best facilities available.
Academics of Sainik Schools
The Sainik Schools are affiliated with the Indian Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and offer education to cadets from classes VI to XII. The concept, objectives and nature of syllabus may be changed at all the schools at the behest of CBSE or Sainik Schools society. All the Sainik Schools across the country offer a different variety and mix of subjects. In class XII, the science stream is offered to the cadets with a variety of second subjects to choose from, which could vary from school to school. Cadets are prepared for the following exams in Sainik Schools:

Awards and Achievements of Sainik Schools
- Sainik School Kunjpura annexed Raksha Mantri Trophy in 1966, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1990, 1995, 2000,2014 and 2016 (Nine Times).
- Col Sant Kumar participated in the Moscow Olympics in 1980.
- Sainik School Kunjapura was runner-up in IPSC (U-17) Volleyball Tournament 2019 at Emerald Heights International School, Indore (MP) wef 05-08 Aug 2019.
- Sainik School Cadets have won the best Non - Police Marching Contingent Trophy in the Independence Day Parade held at district headquarter, Bijapur consecutively for five years from 2006 to 2010.
- Narmada Trekking Camp was organised by NCC Directorate at Rajpipila (Gujarat) from 5 December 2018 to 14 December 2018. 18 Cadets belonging to Sainikschool Coy NCC Bijapur participated enthusiastically in the Trekking Adventure Camp.
Sports Facilities at Sainik Schools
The Sainik Schools offer a wide variety of indoor and outdoor games to the cadets. Each Sainik School lays due emphasis on the importance of sports and makes it an integral part of the curriculum. A healthy body houses a pure heart and a healthy mind.
Sainik Schools Admission
Sainik Schools Admission Eligibility
For admission into Sainik Schools, the following eligibility criteria has been specified:
- For admission to Class VI a candidate should not be less than 10 years and more than 12 years of age as on 31 March of the year of admission.
- Candidates should have passed Class V for Cass VI from a govt/recognize school before the date of admission. A student studying in Class V is eligible to appear in the respective Entrance Test.
- For admission to Class IX a candidate should not be less than 13 years and more than 15 years of age as on 31 March of the year of admission.
- Candidates should have passed Class VIII for Cass IX from a govt/recognize school before the date of admission. A student studying in Class VIII is eligible to appear in the respective Entrance Test.
- Admission for Girls is open for Class VI. Admission to Class IX is not open for girls.
- If a candidate secures a minimum of 25% marks in each subject of the exam and 40% marks in aggregate of all the subjects of AISSEE, he/she is eligible for admission.
- Admission will be based on relative merit (in AISSEE) of candidate in his/ her category in the school opted by him/ her, medical fitness and verification of requisite documents.
Sainik Schools Admission Process
Sainik Schools offer admission to the cadets at the level of Class VI and Class IX. Admission is based on the performance of candidates in the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE). NTA would be conducting the AISSEE 2022 in the paper pen mode in a total of 176 cities across India. Admissions are made purely on merit within each category, on the basis of marks secured in the entrance exam. Alongside this, another pre-requisite happens to be medical fitness and verification of documents.
Sainik Schools’ Admission Form
Sainik Schools open admission forms online and a candidate may apply for AISSEE, online only at https://aissee.nta.nic.in
After the candidate is done filling the online form, he/she is supposed to deposit the examination fee. A candidate is not allowed to make any changes in the form, after payment of the fee.
Sainik Schools Fees
The fees and fee structure for all the Sainik Schools varies per school.
- For General/Wards of Defence personnel and ex-servicemen/OBC(NCL), the examination fee shall be Rs. 550/- (Rupees five hundred and fifty only).
- For Scheduled castes/Scheduled tribes, it shall be Rs. 400/- (Rupees four hundred only).
Sainik Schools’ Syllabus and Exam Pattern
- Syllabus: The candidates appearing for class VI are tested on Mathematics, Intelligence, Language and General Knowledge. The candidates appearing for class IX are tested on Mathematics, Intelligence, English, General Science and Social Science.
- Pattern: Paper pencil on OMR answer sheets is used as the mode of examination for admission to both Class VI and Class IX. Multiple Choice Questions are given in the exam. There is no negative mark for a wrong response. The examination for class VI is for a total of 300 marks, and that of class IX is for a total of 400 marks.

Reservation in Sainik Schools
The schools have reservation of seats in categories mentioned below
- 67% of the seats are reserved for candidates domiciled in the State/ UT where the Sainik School is located.
- 33% of the seats are reserved for candidates from Other States and Union Territories (UT).

Within each Category of Home State/ UT and Other States/ UT quota, seats will be reserved on the following lines:
a. 15% of the seats are reserved for the category Scheduled Caste (SC),
b. 7.5% for the category Scheduled Tribe (ST) and
c. 27% for the category Other Backward Classes belonging to the Non Creamy layer (OBC-NCL) as per the central list.
Thus, 49.50% of the seats in Sainik School are reserved on the abovementioned lines. - Out of the balance 50.50% of the seats in the Home State/ UT and Other States/ UT quota, 25% of the seats are reserved for the wards of defence personnel and ex-servicemen.
- In “Other States/ UT” quota, seats will be allotted in each category as per merit, subject to a maximum limit of 25% of vacancies in the category for any State/UT.
- In Class VI of each Sainik School, 10% of the total vacancies or 10 seats, whichever is more, are reserved for girls.
Note: For SC/ST candidates, there are no prescribed minimum marks for the AISSEE. Their inter-se merit in the respective Entrance Test forms the basis of their admission, provided that they fulfil the eligibility requirements, medical fitness and verification of requisite documents.
