The Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) is located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. It is famous for being one of the oldest and most well-known military schools in India, established back in 1922. The college is an all-boys school with classes from 8th to 12th. RIMC is very well renowned for having its students further admitted to the National Defence Academy, the Indian Armed Forces and the Indian Naval Academy.

RIMC Admission Eligibility:
RIMC’s admission is bi-annual, i.e., in the months of January and July each year.

• Age: The applying candidate must not be less than 11^1/2 years of age, and must not have attained 13 years of age on 01 January or 01 July of the respective Term they join in.
• Education: Admissions are made to Class I, equivalent to class VIII. At the time of joining, the candidate applying should at least be studying in Class VII or should have passed it from a recognised school.
• Medical Standards: The following criteria must be adhered to:

1. Funds & Media – To be healthy with no significant degenerative or other charges of myopia.
2. Visual Fields- To be full in each eye.
3. Binocular vision and stereopsis must be good.

Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) Syllabus and Exam Pattern:

The exam pattern is divided into the following three parts:

1. Written Examination: The written part of the examination consists of three subjects, i.e., English (125 Marks), Mathematics (200 Marks), and General Knowledge (75 Marks). Maths and General knowledge papers may be answered either in Hindi or in English. To qualify, a candidate must obtain a minimum of 50 % marks in each subject.
2. Viva Voce: The oral examination consists of a Viva Voce test of 50 marks, which is designed to assess a candidate’s intelligence, personality and confidence. The minimum passing mark will be 50%.
3. Medical Examination: All the candidates who qualify for the interview round go ahead for the medical examination. They will undergo a medical examination at selected Military Hospital and only those candidates found medically fit, will be considered for selection and admission to the RIMC. Medical Examination of the candidates forms only a part of the system of selection and does not guarantee the final selection.
